Preparation
- In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and pepper.
 - Form the mixture into 6–8 oval-shaped patties and let them rest while you prepare the gravy base.
 
Cooking
- Brown the patties in an oven-safe skillet for 3–4 minutes on each side until they are golden. Remove them and set aside.
 - In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in butter.
 - Add flour to the onions, stir for 2 minutes, then whisk in the beef broth and cream until smooth.
 - Nestle the browned patties into the gravy. Cover tightly and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
 - Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
