Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Roll out your bottom pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie pan.
- Fill the crust with the apple mixture and dot the top with pieces of butter.
- Cover with the top crust and make slits for steam to escape.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30 to 40 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and apples are soft.
Serving
- Serve warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
