Ingredients
  

Pasta and Sauce Components
  • 8 oz ziti pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Can substitute with any tomato-based sauce
Cheese Mixture
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese Feel free to add more for creaminess
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese For topping
Seasoning and Extras
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs Basil and oregano recommended
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for greasing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until it's just al dente; then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, minced garlic, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix until well-blended.
Layering
  1. Take half of the ziti and layer it in a greased baking dish.
  2. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over this layer.
  3. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese on top of the ricotta layer.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining ziti and ricotta mixture, finishing with a sprinkle of mozzarella.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes to set the layers before serving.
