  • 1 pound Beef strips (sirloin or flank steak) Use your preferred cut for flavor.
  • 8 ounces Fresh mushrooms (cremini or button) Cremini mushrooms have a richer flavor.
  • 1 medium Onion (yellow or white) Provides sweetness to the dish.
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) Adds fragrant flavor.
  • 1 cup Beef broth Homemade is preferred, but store-bought works.
  • 1 cup Sour cream For creaminess.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil For cooking.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.

Method
 

Cooking the Beef
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the beef strips, season with salt and pepper, and sear until browned (about 3-4 minutes).
Adding Aromatics
  1. Add diced onions and mushrooms to the skillet.
  2. Sprinkle in minced garlic and sauté until vegetables are tender and onion is translucent (about 5 minutes).
Deglazing
  1. Carefully pour in the beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pan to release browned bits.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
Making it Creamy
  1. Lower the heat and stir in the sour cream.
  2. Cook until heated through and sauce thickens slightly, adjusting seasonings as needed.
Serving
  1. Serve warm over pasta or rice, or with freshly baked bread.
