  • 8 oz Fresh mozzarella cheese Choose high-quality mozzarella for creaminess.
  • 1 cup Fresh basil leaves Fresh basil is key; ideal if from the garden or farmer’s market.
  • 1/2 small Red onion Thinly sliced into rings.
  • 2 tbsp Balsamic glaze Store-bought balsamic glaze is a convenient option.

  • 2 tbsp Olive oil

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the ripe tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese into round slices.
  2. Arrange the tomato slices, mozzarella slices, and red onion rings on a serving plate, alternating them.
  3. Tuck fresh basil leaves in between the layers.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic glaze.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve immediately as a refreshing salad or side dish.

Notes

Caprese Salad is best served fresh, but if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a day.
