Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and gently grease a baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir until well blended.
- Add the softened butter to the dry mixture. Use your fingers to mix until it gets crumbly.
- Press half of this crumbly mixture into the bottom of the greased baking dish to form a crust.
- Spread an even layer of caramel sauce over the crust.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top of the caramel layer.
- If desired, add chocolate chips on top.
Baking
- Bake in your preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is a lovely golden color.
Cooling
- Allow it to cool completely before cutting into bars to help hold their shape.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or refrigerate for two weeks. You can freeze them by wrapping individual bars in plastic wrap.
