Ingredients
  

For the Crust and Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure at room temperature for best texture.
For the Filling
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) Recommended for chocolate lovers.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and gently grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir until well blended.
  3. Add the softened butter to the dry mixture. Use your fingers to mix until it gets crumbly.
  4. Press half of this crumbly mixture into the bottom of the greased baking dish to form a crust.
  5. Spread an even layer of caramel sauce over the crust.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top of the caramel layer.
  7. If desired, add chocolate chips on top.
Baking
  1. Bake in your preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the top is a lovely golden color.
Cooling
  1. Allow it to cool completely before cutting into bars to help hold their shape.

Notes
