Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound potato gnocchi
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, warm the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it apart as it cooks, until it turns a lovely golden brown.
  3. Once browned, stir in the marinara sauce along with the Italian seasoning. Let this simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing those flavors to meld beautifully.
  4. Meanwhile, cook the gnocchi according to the package instructions—watch for them to float to the surface of the water, indicating they’re done. Drain them well.
  5. Gently combine the cooked gnocchi with the sausage and sauce mixture, ensuring each piece is coated in that luscious sauce.
  6. Transfer everything into a greased baking dish, layering the top with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  2. Finally, if you’re feeling fancy, add a garnish of fresh basil before serving warm.
