Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound steak, cut into bite-sized pieces Sirloin or your favorite cut
  • 1 cup rice White rice works best, brown rice may alter cooking time
  • 2 cups beef broth Homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or pepper jack for a kick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Vegetables like bell peppers or peas Adds color and nutrition

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the steak pieces, seasoning them with salt and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned—about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Toss in the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until the onion turns translucent, around 2-3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the rice until it’s nicely coated with the pan juices.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and bring it to a gentle boil.
  6. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.
  7. Remove from heat and sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top. Cover again until the cheese is melted.
  8. Give everything a gentle stir and serve hot.
