Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease your baking dish to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, combine the rice, cream of chicken (or mushroom) soups, milk, water, and onion soup mix. Stir until well blended.
- Pour this mixture into your greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the top and stir gently to incorporate.
- Nestle the chicken breasts or thighs on top of the mixture.
- Cover the dish tightly with foil to trap all the flavors as it bakes.
Baking
- Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, until the chicken is cooked through.
- Remove the foil and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Allow it to sit for 15–20 minutes before serving.
