Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced Can be substituted with turkey sausage or plant-based alternative.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh or frozen can be used.
  • 1.5 cups orzo pasta Any small pasta shape can be used.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese Can mix with mozzarella or feta for variety.
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, cook the slices of chicken sausage over medium heat until they’re beautifully browned, about 5–7 minutes. Remove the sausage and set it aside.
  2. Add a bit of oil if needed, then add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Sauté until fragrant and the onion is translucent, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Toss in the broccoli florets and cook until slightly tender, around 3–4 minutes.
  4. Add the orzo pasta and chicken broth, stir, then bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Cover and cook for about 10–12 minutes until orzo is tender and most broth is absorbed.
  6. Stir in the cooked sausage, then sprinkle with grated Parmesan and season with salt and pepper.
