  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Use dark chocolate for richer flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Combine the sourdough starter, warm water, and sugar in a large bowl. Stir until it's well mixed.
  2. Gradually add in the flour and salt, mixing until the dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it feels smooth and elastic.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring even distribution throughout the dough.
  5. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for 4-6 hours or until it has doubled in size.

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and put a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
  2. Shape the risen dough into a round loaf and put it on a sheet of parchment paper.
  3. Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven, place the dough inside, and cover it with the lid.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until it's golden brown.
