Preparation
- Combine the sourdough starter, warm water, and sugar in a large bowl. Stir until it's well mixed.
- Gradually add in the flour and salt, mixing until the dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it feels smooth and elastic.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring even distribution throughout the dough.
- Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for 4-6 hours or until it has doubled in size.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and put a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- Shape the risen dough into a round loaf and put it on a sheet of parchment paper.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven, place the dough inside, and cover it with the lid.
- Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on, then remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until it's golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
