  • 1 lb ground beef Cook until browned
  • 1 cup white rice Can substitute with brown rice
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Mozzarella or cheddar recommended
  • 1 cup water
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional chopped onions or garlic For extra flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the rice, French onion soup, and water. Season with salt and pepper, and toss in onions or garlic if you desire.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  5. Top the casserole with your shredded cheese.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes
