German Chocolate Pie

A delightful twist on the classic dessert, this German Chocolate Pie combines chocolate, coconut, and pecans for a heavenly indulgence.

Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs Can substitute with crushed cookies.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure butter is not too hot.
For the filling
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips Bittersweet can be used for deeper flavor.
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans Chop just before adding to maintain oil.
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a pie pan.
  3. Bake the crust for about 10 minutes until golden and fragrant, then let it cool.
Filling
  1. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the dark chocolate chips with the sweetened condensed milk until smooth.
  2. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before mixing in the eggs, vanilla, and salt.
  3. Fold in the shredded coconut and chopped pecans.
  4. Pour the filling into the cooled crust.
  5. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until set.
  6. Let it cool before serving.
