Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed Use fresh for the best texture
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup Alternatively, use cream of chicken or homemade béchamel
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions Add just before baking for optimal crunch
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for about 5 minutes, just until they’re tender-crisp.
  3. Drain the beans and set them aside.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Gently fold in the blanched green beans until they’re all coated.
  6. Transfer this mixture to your favorite baking dish and generously sprinkle the crispy fried onions on top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
