  • 1 large onion, sliced Sliced finely for even caramelization

  • to taste pepper
  • 4 pieces hoagie rolls Can substitute burger buns or baguette
  • 8 slices provolone or cheese of your choice Sharp cheddar or pepper jack can be used for variety
  • enough for sautéing oil Oil for cooking

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and pour in the oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions and sauté until soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Toss in the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned and fully cooked through.
  4. While the beef is cooking, preheat hoagie rolls in the oven or on a grill until warm and slightly toasty.
  5. Divide the beef and onion mixture among the hoagie rolls.
  6. Top each sandwich with slices of cheese and let it sit until melted.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
