Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Stir in the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mix into the banana mixture and stir gently until just combined.
  6. If you're feeling indulgent, fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing out the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
