Ingredients
  

For the fries
  • 26 ounces frozen French fries Use frozen fries according to package instructions.
For the cheese sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted for the sauce.
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour Used to thicken the cheese sauce.
  • 2 cups milk Gradually added to the flour mixture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 2 teaspoons ranch seasoning powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder Divided; adjusted to taste.
  • 8 ounces white cheddar cheese (shredded) Can substitute with sharp cheddar or pepper jack.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven or air fryer to 400°F.
  2. Spread the frozen fries evenly on a baking sheet or in the air fryer basket. Bake until golden brown, following the package instructions.
Making the cheese sauce
  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then whisk in the flour until it becomes a paste. Cook for about 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually pour in the milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Stir in the salt, ground white pepper, ranch seasoning, and half of the cayenne.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it cook until thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the shredded cheese until it melts into a rich sauce.
Serving
  1. Once the fries are perfectly crispy, pour the creamy cheese sauce generously over them and serve warm.
