  • 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or a mix of meats.
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion Sautéing can enhance flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Sautéing can enhance flavor.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Can use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup ketchup Can substitute with barbecue sauce for a smoky flavor.
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Mix until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
  3. Shape the mixture into an oval loaf and place it into a baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  5. Generously brush the glaze over the meatloaf.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
Resting
  1. Once out of the oven, let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For best results, let meatloaf rest before cutting to prevent crumbling. Leftovers can be wrapped and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
