Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until it’s al dente; then, drain it well.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, the egg, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until everything is beautifully blended.
- Incorporate the drained ziti pasta along with half of the marinara sauce. Gently mix until the pasta is coated.
Assembly
- In a baking dish, spread a layer of the reserved marinara sauce, followed by half of the ziti mixture. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Repeat this layering process with the remaining ziti mixture, the rest of the marinara sauce, and finally, the rest of the cheeses.
Baking
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
- Allow to cool for a few moments before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
