Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until it’s al dente; then, drain it well.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, the egg, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until everything is beautifully blended.
  4. Incorporate the drained ziti pasta along with half of the marinara sauce. Gently mix until the pasta is coated.
Assembly
  1. In a baking dish, spread a layer of the reserved marinara sauce, followed by half of the ziti mixture. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top.
  2. Repeat this layering process with the remaining ziti mixture, the rest of the marinara sauce, and finally, the rest of the cheeses.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
  3. Allow to cool for a few moments before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
