Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Once the yeast has frothed, add it to the flour along with the melted butter. Mix until a soft, sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a warm spot to rise, covering with a clean cloth. Let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll the dough out into a rectangular shape. Layer the crumbled sausage, shredded cheese, and green onions on top.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into thick pieces.
- Position the rolls on a baking sheet and brush the tops with a beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm.
