  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Decoration

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until creamy and light.
  3. Add in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until everything is well incorporated.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface and use cookie cutters to create gingerbread men shapes.
  3. Place the cut-out cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes until just firm.
  4. Allow them to cool on a wire rack, then decorate with your choice of festive sprinkles!
