Ingredients

Cookie Dough Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute half with whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup packed light brown sugar Essential for chewy texture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups chocolate chips (semisweet and dark recommended) Can substitute with milk or white chocolate.
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted and slightly cooled)

Method

Preparation
  1. Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and sea salt until well combined.
  2. Prepare the wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, cream together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter. Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  3. Combine and fold: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mix, folding gently until everything is incorporated. The dough should be thick and rich.
  4. Chill the dough: Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Scoop and shape: Use a cookie scoop to portion out the dough, shaping each scoop into a thick disc before placing it on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
  2. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  3. Cool and set: Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack. They will continue to firm up as they cool.

Notes

These cookies are best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container for freshness. Chilling the dough is crucial for thicker cookies.
